Why a SCO Win Could Be Good for Unix
eWeek article:
Why turn to a BSD base as the basis for a commercial open Unix? BSD has been around, it’s been proven, it’s stable and has a broad groundswell of development. BSD-based Unix systems have been around for multiple decades now. There’s sufficient documentation, standardization and educational resources to promote their development. BSD systems have been implemented on such a wide range of hardware platforms and operating environments that their value is accepted almost without question.

What your really saying is “I want to see a corporation that is using this debauchery of a lawsuit win, destroying the work of thousands of people, so my favorite unix can come out on top. I could care less about all the work put into linux, and I support lawsuits that are built with no merit, and are used to pump up stock so ceo’s can get richer. I love to see coders get stomped on, so I can have my favorite OS come out on top.”
And what stops SCO from going after BSD after it gets done with linux? What happens to your bsd then? all that work down the drain too.
You should really think about what your saying before you say it. If you don’t, your just SCO.
Well, you know that it is not what I mean, and that was excerpt from an article published on eWeek. First, I suggest you to read the whole article. Then I strongly believe if there was really Intellectual Propery theft by IBM and they contributed that code to linux, then IBM is the real looser not the SCO. What if you were the CEO of SCO and you noticed that IBM is contributing your licensed code to public domain?
Well, So far they have shown only one bit of code, and it wasn’t even theirs. And for some reason all the top level people are selling their stock.
Along with the fact they have released their code under gpl, and pretty much have no idea what they are doing.
Maybe, If I was the ceo, I would release the code that I thought was suspect, so I could at least get the comunity behind me, and not against me. But then again, this is the age of pissing off the consumer whores.
