I believe geeks do not spend much time on TV. But I use every occasion to watch my favorite TV shows.
I love Discovery Channel and my favorite show is Brainiac.

I am really corious what other geeks love to watch on TV. What is your Favorite TV show? Which channel is your number one?

Firefox Plugin idea

with 2 comments

I would call this the “Productivity Plugin”. And its rather simple.

A plugin that restricts to only one instance of browser (maybe in kiosk mode), and limits the user to open up only 5 tabs simultaneously.

Consider how much time and resource we waste by opening so many browser windows and tabs, which we have even no time to look at. And how much time and resource this simple plugin would save. This is something the machine should force us to do.

How do I waste technology?

with 2 comments

I am one of those gadget lovers who loves to buy new toys but have no time to play with them.

I was thinking about this issue today. For example, the best way I am using my PocketPC these days is syncing it with avantgo and read my favorite news channels before I sleep. This is the best way I use a $400 gadget.

How do you waste your money?

K700 firmware upgrade

with 3 comments

If you are a lucky owner of SonyEricsson K700i, I strongly recommend you to update your phone firmware to the latest and enjoy the new enhancements as well as bug fixes.

SE has launched their new online “Sony Ericsson Update Service” for K700i phones. All you need is a good internet connection, a DSS-25 cradle and Internet Explorer 6.

It works like Windows Update website and users do not need any technical information about flashing firmwares. And best of all, it works like charm.

New gadgets and reviews

with one comment

I’ve got some new gadgets and I am planning to write some reviews on them. This includes Panasonic RPHC100 Noise-Canceling Headphones (yes, it works flawlessly), SonyEricsson K700i handset and Sony Ericsson Akono HBH-600 Bluetooth handsfree.

I am currently experiencing them, and its a bit soon to make a review.

I feel I am getting a bit like SilverOrange people. They review whatever they like, ranging from shoes to wide-screen cinema displays. I really like their reviews.

SourceForge download

with one comment

Awful. Everyday people learn new ways to show that something is going worng.
I got this error while I was trying to download a small file from sourceforge:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 51000 bytes) in Unknown on line 0

You judge.

Google Messenger

with 58 comments

It’s not too hard to predict next google service: Google Messenger

Maybe it’s just an idea, but even the idea is very cool. And if it ever happens:

  • It will use Orkut for registration and will utilize your Orkut friends list as your contact list.
  • It can also be used as a Google search representative on your desktop. So you can search in google without opening up a browser windows.
  • It can search on your hard disk content, a local search engine.
  • And also a desktop notify tool for your Gmail.

What do you think? Anyone has other ideas?

And remember, you heard it here first.

Alternate Orkuts

with 6 comments

Have you tried Orkut? I mean Orcut. No, wait, first give a try to Orkat. Did I mention I have already registered with Orcit?

Google’s superior service which is running on top of IIS and ASP.NET was returning Squid error messages today for half an hour. I guess they use Squid for load balancing and server side caching. What a shame!

Time to switch

with 7 comments

It’s time to switch. I am really fed up with my current Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook C1020 laptop. Buying this notebook was one of the dumbest things I have done in my life.

I am thinking about an HP Pavilion zd7000 (reviews here, here and here).

I don’t know if this is a wise choice or not, yet. But I would be happy to know your experience with HP laptops.
